Bainbridge Island Educational Support Professional Association (BIESPA)
BIESPA is the union local representing classified employees of the Bainbridge Island School District.
We are affiliated with the Washington Education Association and the National Education Association.
We formed in 1999 when three smaller unions merged to increase our power and impact.
Our members include bus drivers, mechanics, paraeducators, food service workers, custodians, technology technicians, secretarial staff, nurses, maintenance personnel, security and groundskeepers.
We are an indispensable part of our district's educational team. We provide students and staff with reliable and safe transportation, a secure, clean and welcoming environment, nutritious food, and one-on-one attention to help students in their studies.
Working together, BIESPA provides members with a range of services.

As members of the National Education Association (NEA), we are also entitled to a wide range of services, consumer discounts and other benefits (see "Useful Links" page)

- Bargaining a new contract every 2-3 years to increase pay and benefits and improve working conditions
- Opportunities to actively participate in the decisions and activities of the union.
- Advocacy to make sure the district treats classified employees fairly, according to our contract.
- Confidential ways to ask questions and get information.
- Advice and support when facing disciplinary action.
- Opportunities and funds to pursue professional development.
- Assistance and support to resolve complaints and disputes
